He heard him say, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ established brotherhood between the Quraysh and the Ansar, and he made Saad bin Rabi and Abdul-Rahman bin Awf brothers."Saad said to him, "I have wealth, so it is divided in half between you and me. I have two wives, so look and see which of them you prefer, and I will divorce her. Once her waiting period is over, you may marry her."Abdul-Rahman replied, "May Allah bless you in your family and your wealth. Just direct me to the market."He did not return until he came back with butter and dried curd that he had earned as profit.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then noticed traces of yellow perfume on him and asked, "What is this?"I said, "I have married a woman from the Ansar."He said, "Hold a wedding feast, even if only with a single sheep."
أخبرنا أحمد بن يحيى بن الوزير قال حدثنا سعيد بن كثير بن عفير قال أخبرني سليمان بن بلال عن يحيى بن سعيد عن حميد الطويل
أنه سمعه يقول آخى رسول الله ﷺ بين قريش والأنصار فآخى بين سعد بن الربيع وعبد الرحمن بن عوف فقال له سعد إن لي مالا فهو بيني وبينك شطران ولي امرأتان فانظر أيهما أحب إليك فأنا أطلقها فإذا حلت فتزوجها قال بارك الله لك في أهلك ومالك دلوني أي على السوق فلم يرجع حتى رجع بسمن وأقط قد أفضله قال ورأى رسول الله ﷺ علي أثر صفرة فقال مهيم فقلت تزوجت امرأة من الأنصار فقال أولم ولو بشاة
