Abu Hurairah reported,

I came along with Ali bin Abu Talib when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him to the people of Mecca with Surah Baraah.Someone asked him, "What were you proclaiming?"He replied, "We were proclaiming that none shall enter Paradise except a believing soul, no one shall circumambulate the House naked, and whoever has a covenant with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, his term is set at four months. Once the four months have passed, then 'Allah and His Messenger are free from the polytheists' [Tawbah 9:3], and no polytheist shall perform Hajj after this year. I kept calling out until my voice grew hoarse."

أبي هريرة عن أبيه قال

جئت مع علي بن أبي طالب حين بعثه رسول الله ﷺ إلى أهل مكة ببراءة قال ما كنتم تنادون قال كنا ننادي إنه لا يدخل الجنة إلا نفس مؤمنة ولا يطوف بالبيت عريان ومن كان بينه وبين رسول الله ﷺ عهد فأجله أو أمده إلى أربعة أشهر فإذا مضت الأربعة أشهر فإن {الله بريء من المشركين ورسوله} ولا يحج بعد العام مشرك فكنت أنادي حتى صحل صوتي
