We asked him about a man who came to perform Umrah, circled the House, but did not walk between Safa and Marwa. May he go to his wife?He replied, "When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived, he made seven circuits, prayed two units of prayer behind the Station, and walked between Safa and Marwa. Indeed, you have in the Messenger of Allah an excellent example to follow."
أخبرنا محمد بن منصور قال حدثنا سفيان عن عمرو قال
وسألناه عن رجل قدم معتمرا فطاف بالبيت ولم يطف بين الصفا والمروة أيأتي أهله قال لما قدم رسول الله ﷺ فطاف سبعا وصلى خلف المقام ركعتين وطاف بين الصفا والمروة وقد كان لكم في رسول الله أسوة حسنة
Bukhari narrated it, in the Book of Prayer, chapter on Allah's statement, "Take the standing place of Ibrahim as a place of prayer," hadith no. 395, and Muslim, in the Book of Hajj, chapter on the explanation that one in ihram for umrah does not release himself from ihram by tawaf before sai... etc., hadith no. 1234, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna through this chain.
