Jabir narrated about the pilgrimage of the Prophet ﷺ, saying that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained in Medina for nine years without performing the pilgrimage. Then it was announced to the people that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would perform the pilgrimage that year. A great many people came to Medina, all of them seeking to follow the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and do as he did.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out when five days remained of Dhul-Qadah, and we set out with him.Jabir said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was among us. The Quran was being revealed to him, and he knew its interpretation. Whatever he did, we did. So we set out intending nothing but the pilgrimage."
أخبرنا يعقوب بن إبراهيم قال حدثنا يحيى بن سعيد قال حدثنا جعفر بن محمد قال حدثني أبي قال أتينا
عن حجة النبي ﷺ فحدثنا أن رسول الله ﷺ مكث بالمدينة تسع حجج ثم أذن في الناس أن رسول الله ﷺ في حاج هذا العام فنزل المدينة بشر كثير كلهم يلتمس أن يأتم برسول الله ﷺ ويفعل ما يفعل فخرج رسول الله ﷺ لخمس بقين من ذي القعدة وخرجنا معه قال جابر ورسول الله ﷺ بين أظهرنا عليه ينزل القرآن وهو يعرف تأويله وما عمل به من شيء عملنا فخرجنا لا ننوي إلا الحج
