The Prophet ﷺ met him while he was in a state of major ritual impurity. The Prophet ﷺ reached out toward him, and he said, "I am in a state of major impurity."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "The Muslim is never impure."
أخبرنا إسحق بن منصور قال أخبرنا يحيى قال حدثنا مسعر قال حدثني واصل عن أبي وائل
أن النبي ﷺ لقيه وهو جنب فأهوى إلي فقلت إني جنب فقال إن المسلم لا ينجس
Muslim narrated it, in the chapter "Menstruation, section on the proof that the Muslim does not become impure," hadith no. 372, from the hadith of Masaar, through him. It is also found in Kubra, hadith no. 264. Ibn Majah also narrated it, hadith no. 535, from Ishaq bin Mansur, through him.
