The Messenger of Allah ﷺ designated Dhu al-Hulayfa as the place of ihram for the people of Madinah, al-Juhfa for the people of Sham, Qarn for the people of Najd, and Yalamlam for the people of Yemen. He said, "These are for the people of those regions and for anyone passing through them from elsewhere who intends Hajj or Umra. As for those who live closer to Makkah, they enter ihram from wherever they begin their journey, and so on, until even the people of Makkah enter ihram from Makkah itself."
أخبرنا يعقوب بن إبراهيم الدورقي عن محمد بن جعفر قال حدثنا معمر قال أخبرني عبد الله بن طاوس عن أبيه
وقت رسول الله ﷺ لأهل المدينة ذا الحليفة ولأهل الشام الجحفة ولأهل نجد قرنا ولأهل اليمن يلملم قال هن لهم ولمن أتى عليهن ممن سواهن لمن أراد الحج والعمرة ومن كان دون ذلك من حيث بدا حتى يبلغ ذلك أهل مكة
