The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Charity is not lawful for a wealthy person, nor for one who is sound and able-bodied."
أخبرنا هناد بن السري عن أبي بكر عن أبي حصين عن سالم
قال رسول الله ﷺ لا تحل الصدقة لغني ولا لذي مرة سوي
[Sahih]. Ibn Majah narrated it, Zakat, Chapter on One Who Asks Without Real Need, no. 1839, from Abu Dawud, the hadith of Abu Bakr bin Ayyash, through him, and it is also in al-Kubra, no. 2378. The hadith has many corroborating narrations, see no. 1634 and others.Salim is the son of Abu Jaad.
