Someone said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "Should I ask people for help, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "No. But if you must ask, then ask the righteous."
أخبرنا قتيبة قال حدثنا الليث عن جعفر بن ربيعة عن بكر بن سوادة عن مسلم بن مخشي عن ابن الفراسي أن
لرسول الله ﷺ أسأل يا رسول الله قال لا وإن كنت سائلا لا بد فاسأل الصالحين
[Its chain is daif] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Zakat, chapter on refraining from begging, hadith 1646, from Qutayba, through this route, and it is also found in Kubra, hadith 2368.Muslim was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Hibban alone, and as for Ibn Firasi, I found no one who deemed him trustworthy.
