Umm Bajid, who was among those who pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, said to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, "A poor man stands at my door, but I find nothing to give him."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "If you find nothing to give him except a burnt hoof, then hand it to him."
[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Abu Dawud narrated it in the chapters on zakat, in the chapter on the right of the one who asks, hadith 1667, and Tirmidhi narrated it in the chapters on zakat, in the chapter on what has been said regarding the right of the one who asks, hadith 665, from Qutayba, with this chain. It is also found in Al-Kubra, hadith 2355, and Tirmidhi said, "Hasan sahih." A portion of it has already appeared, hadith 2566.
