The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Eat, give in charity, and dress, without extravagance or arrogance."
أخبرنا أحمد بن سليمان قال حدثنا يزيد قال حدثنا همام عن قتادة
قال رسول الله ﷺ كلوا وتصدقوا والبسوا في غير إسراف ولا مخيلة
[Its isnad is daif] Ibn Majah narrated it in the Book of Clothing, chapter "Wear what you wish, so long as it does not amount to extravagance or vanity," hadith no. 3605, from the hadith of Yazid bin Harun, with this wording. It is also found in al-Kubra, hadith no. 2340, and Bukhari cited it as a suspended report (muallaq) at the beginning of the Book of Clothing.Qatada narrated it using "an" (indicating a possible gap in transmission).
