Abu Hurairah reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The likeness of the generous giver of charity and the miser is like two men wearing coats of mail from their breasts to their collarbones. When the generous one wishes to give in charity, his coat expands until it covers his fingertips and erases his footprints. But when the miser wishes to spend, every ring clings tightly to its place, until it grips him by his collarbone or his neck."Abu Hurairah said, "I bear witness that he saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ trying to widen it, but it would not widen."Tawus said, "I heard Abu Hurairah, gesturing with his hand as he tried to widen it, and it would not widen."

أخبرنا محمد بن منصور قال حدثنا سفيان عن ابن جريج عن الحسن بن مسلم عن طاوس قال سمعت أبا هريرة ثم قال حدثناه أبو الزناد عن الأعرج

عن أبي هريرة قال

قال رسول الله ﷺ إن مثل المنفق المتصدق والبخيل كمثل رجلين عليهما جبتان أو جنتان من حديد من لدن ثديهما إلى تراقيهما فإذا أراد المنفق أن ينفق اتسعت عليه الدرع أو مرت حتى تجن بنانه وتعفو أثره وإذا أراد البخيل أن ينفق قلصت ولزمت كل حلقة موضعها حتى إذا أخذته بترقوته أو برقبته يقول أبو هريرة أشهد أنه رأى رسول الله ﷺ يوسعها فلا تتسع قال طاوس سمعت أبا هريرة يشير بيده وهو يوسعها ولا تتوسع
