I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he gave to me. Then I asked him again and he gave to me. Then I asked him a third time and he gave to me. Then he said, "This wealth is green and sweet. Whoever takes it with a content heart will be blessed in it, but whoever takes it with a greedy soul will not be blessed in it, and he will be like one who eats but is never satisfied. The upper hand is better than the lower hand."
Bukhari reported it in the Book of Softening of Hearts, the chapter of the Prophet's ﷺ statement, "This wealth is green and sweet..." etc, hadith number 6441, and Muslim reported it in the Book of Zakat, the chapter clarifying that the upper hand is better than the lower hand... etc, hadith number 1035, from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna with this wording, and it is also in Al-Kubra, hadith number 2310.
