We set out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage. I entered the state of ihram for umrah, and when I arrived in Makkah I was menstruating, so I did not perform tawaf around the House nor walk between Safa and Marwa. I complained about this to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "Undo your hair, comb it, enter ihram for hajj, and leave the umrah aside."So I did. When we had completed the hajj, he sent me with Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Bakr to Tanim, and I performed umrah from there. He said, "This is in place of your umrah."Abu Abdul-Rahman said, This is a rare hadith among the narrations of Malik from Hisham bin Urwa. No one narrated it except Ashhab.
أخبرنا يونس بن عبد الأعلى قال حدثنا أشهب عن مالك أن ابن شهاب وهشام بن عروة حدثاه عن عروة
خرجنا مع رسول الله ﷺ عام حجة الوداع فأهللت بالعمرة فقدمت مكة وأنا حائض فلم أطف بالبيت ولا بين الصفا والمروة فشكوت ذلك إلى رسول الله ﷺ فقال انقضي رأسك وامتشطي وأهلي بالحج ودعي العمرة ففعلت فلما قضينا الحج أرسلني مع عبد الرحمن بن أبي بكر إلى التنعيم فاعتمرت فقال هذه مكان عمرتك قال أبو عبد الرحمن هذا حديث غريب من حديث مالك عن هشام بن عروة لم يروه أحد إلا أشهب
Bukhari transmitted it in the book of Hajj, chapter "How should a menstruating or postpartum-bleeding woman perform ihlal?", hadith no. 1556, and Muslim transmitted it, chapter etc., hadith no. 1211, from the hadith of Malik through the same chain, in the book of Hajj, chapter "Explanation of the forms of ihram, and that performing Hajj alone (ifrad) is permissible", and it is found in Muwatta (Yahya narration), 1/410, 411.
