The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Abdullah bin Amr, I have heard that you fast every day and stand in prayer all night. If you keep doing this, your eyes will sink and your soul will grow weary. The one who fasts perpetually has not truly fasted. Fasting three days each month is equivalent to fasting the entire year."I said, "I am able to do more than that."He said, "Then fast the fast of Dawud. He used to fast one day and break his fast the next, and he would never flee when he met the enemy in battle."
