Nadr bin Shayban reported,

I said to Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman, "Narrate to me something you heard from your father, which your father heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ directly, with no one between your father and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, concerning the month of Ramadan."He said, "Yes. My father told me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Allah has made fasting Ramadan obligatory upon you, and I have established for you the practice of standing in prayer during its nights. Whoever fasts it and stands in prayer during it out of faith and seeking reward will emerge from his sins as on the day his mother gave birth to him.'"
