The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out in the middle of the night and prayed in the mosque, leading the people in prayer. The narrator continued the hadith, and in it she said, "He used to encourage them to pray during the nights of Ramadan without making it an absolute obligation, saying, 'Whoever stands in prayer on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and seeking reward will have his past sins forgiven.'"She said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away while the matter remained on this practice."
أخبرنا زكريا بن يحيى قال أنبأنا إسحق قال أنبأنا عبد الله بن الحارث عن يونس الأيلي عن الزهري قال أخبرني عروة بن الزبير أن
أن رسول الله ﷺ خرج في جوف الليل يصلي في المسجد فصلى بالناس وساق الحديث وفيه قالت فكان يرغبهم في قيام رمضان من غير أن يأمرهم بعزيمة ويقول من قام ليلة القدر إيمانا واحتسابا غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه قال فتوفي رسول الله ﷺ والأمر على ذلك
Narrated by Muslim in "Prayer of the Traveler," the chapter on encouraging the night prayer in Ramadan, which is tarawih, hadith no. 178/761, from the hadith of Yunus bin Yazid, via this route. It is also found in Sunan al-Kubra, hadith no. 2503.Ishaq is Ibn Rahawayh, ha, from Makhzumi, and his student Zakariya al-Sunnah.His statement, "Then he died... etc." is an interpolation from the statement of Zuhri, as mentioned in Mudraj ila Mudraj by Suyuti, p. 22, hadith no. 8, and elsewhere.
