Fatimah bint Abu Hubaysh said, "Messenger of Allah, I do not become pure. Should I abandon the prayer?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "That is only a vein, not menstruation. When your menstrual period comes, leave off the prayer, and when its duration has passed, wash the blood from yourself and pray."
أخبرنا قتيبة بن سعيد عن مالك عن هشام بن عروة عن أبيه
قالت فاطمة بنت أبي حبيش يا رسول الله لا أطهر أفأدع الصلاة فقال رسول الله ﷺ إنما ذلك عرق وليست بالحيضة فإذا أقبلت الحيضة فدعي الصلاة فإذا ذهب قدرها فاغسلي عنك الدم وصلي
Bukhari transmitted it in the book of Menstruation, chapter titled "Vaginal bleeding (istihadah)", h: 306, from the hadith of Malik through this same chain, and it is in Muwatta (Yahya): 1/61, and Kubra, h: 223.
