The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The soul of the believer is a bird in the trees of Paradise until Allah returns it to its body on the Day of Resurrection."
[Its chain is daif]. Tirmidhi narrated it in the Virtues of Jihad, chapter on what has been said about the reward of the martyr, hadith 1641, and Ibn Majah in the Book of Funerals, chapter on what is said in the presence of the sick person when death approaches, hadith 1449 and hadith 4271, from the hadith of Ibn Shihab Zuhri, with this chain. Tirmidhi said, "hasan sahih." It is also found in Muwatta (Yahya recension) 1/240, and in Kubra, hadith 2200, and Ibn Hibban declared it sahih, hadith 734.Zuhri's teacher is Abdul-Rahman bin Abdullah bin Kaab, who is attributed to his grandfather, but he did not hear this hadith from his grandfather. See Nihayah, my edition, 1707. It has weak corroborating narrations in Ahmad, 6/424, 425, and elsewhere.
