The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade that anything be built over a grave, or that it be added to, or plastered with gypsum. Sulayman bin Musa added, "or that anything be written upon it."
أخبرنا هارون بن إسحق قال حدثنا حفص عن ابن جريج عن سليمان بن موسى وأبي الزبير
نهى رسول الله ﷺ أن يبنى على القبر أو يزاد عليه أو يجصص زاد سليمان بن موسى أو يكتب عليه
Muslim narrated it in "The Book of Funerals," chapter on the prohibition of plastering graves and building over them, hadith 970/94, from Hafs bin Ghiyath with this chain, without mentioning Sulayman bin Musa. It is also found in Al-Kubra, hadith 2154, and Tirmidhi graded it sahih, hadith 1052.
