He heard the Prophet ﷺ say in the funeral prayer, "O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, those present among us and those absent, our males and our females, our young and our old."
أخبرنا إسمعيل بن مسعود قال حدثنا يزيد وهو ابن زريع قال حدثنا هشام بن أبي عبد الله عن يحيى بن أبي كثير
أنه سمع النبي ﷺ يقول في الصلاة على الميت اللهم اغفر لحينا وميتنا وشاهدنا وغائبنا وذكرنا وأنثانا وصغيرنا وكبيرنا
[Sahih] Reported by Tirmidhi in the Book of Funerals, chapter on what is said in the prayer over the deceased, hadith no. 1024, from the hadith of Yahya bin Abu Kathir, and he said, hasan sahih. It is also in Kubra, hadith no. 2113, Abu Dawud, hadith no. 3201, and Ahmad, 5/299,308. Ibn Jarud graded it sahih, hadith no. 541, and it has corroborating narrations elsewhere.
