The Prophet ﷺ said, "Wear white clothing, for it is purer and more wholesome, and shroud your dead in it."
أخبرنا عمرو بن علي قال أنبأنا يحيى بن سعيد قال سمعت سعيد بن أبي عروبة يحدث عن أيوب عن أبي قلابة عن أبي المهلب
عن النبي ﷺ قال البسوا من ثيابكم البياض فإنها أطهر وأطيب وكفنوا فيها موتاكم
[Sahih] Ahmad reported it, 20/5, from the hadith of Saeed bin Abu Aruba, with the same wording, and Mamar followed him in narrating it as reported by Ahmad. The hadith is also in al-Kubra, no. 2023, and it has a corroborating witness in Tirmidhi, no. 2810, and Ibn Majah, no. 3567. Tirmidhi graded it sahih, and Hakim graded it sahih according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), 4/185, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
