Someone from the family of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ died, and the women gathered to weep over the deceased. Umar stood up to forbid them and drive them away, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Leave them be, Umar. The eye sheds tears, the heart is stricken, and the loss is recent."
أخبرنا علي بن حجر قال حدثنا إسمعيل هو ابن جعفر عن محمد بن عمرو بن حلحلة عن محمد بن عمرو بن عطاء أن سلمة بن الأزرق قال سمعت
مات ميت من آل رسول الله ﷺ فاجتمع النساء يبكين عليه فقام عمر ينهاهن ويطردهن فقال رسول الله ﷺ دعهن يا عمر فإن العين دامعة والقلب مصاب والعهد قريب
Its isnad is daif. Ibn Majah narrated it in the Book of Funerals, chapter on what has been said about weeping over the dead, hadith 1587, from Muhammad bin Amr bin Ata, with this wording. It is also found in al-Kubra, hadith 1986, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, hadith 747.Salama is obscure, and I have not found anyone who considered him trustworthy other than Ibn Hibban. Sindi said, Ibn Hajar said in al-Fath, "Its narrators are trustworthy."
