The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he received the pledge of allegiance from the women, took from them a commitment that they would not wail in mourning. The women said, "Messenger of Allah, there are women who joined us in mourning during the days of ignorance. Should we now join them in their mourning?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "There is no joining in mourning in Islam."
[Its isnad is sahih] Ahmad narrated it, 3/197, from Abdul-Razzaq, and Abu Dawud, no. 3222, and Tirmidhi, no. 1601, and Ibn Majah, no. 1885, from the hadith of Abdul-Razzaq bin Hammam through him, both abridged and in full. It is also in Kubra, no. 1979, and Musnaf Abdul-Razzaq, no. 6690, in full. Ibn Hibban and Tirmidhi and others graded it sahih, and Ibn Hibban added, 738, "No jalab, no janab, and whoever seizes plunder is not one of us, and there is no shighar in Islam, and no aqr in Islam." It has been faulted with a defect that is not damaging.
