The Prophet ﷺ said, "The deceased is punished due to his family's wailing over him."
أخبرنا عبيد الله بن سعيد قال حدثنا يحيى عن عبيد الله عن نافع عن ابن عمر
عن النبي ﷺ قال الميت يعذب ببكاء أهله عليه
Muslim narrated it in Sahih Muslim, Chapter on Funerals, section titled "The Deceased Is Punished for the Weeping of His Family Over Him," hadith no. 927, from the hadith of Ubaydullah bin Umar, through this same chain, and it is also in Kubra, hadith no. 1976.
