The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the witr prayer at the beginning of the night, in the middle of it, and at its end, and his witr eventually settled at the time just before dawn.
أخبرنا إسحق بن منصور قال حدثنا عبد الرحمن عن سفيان عن أبي حصين عن يحيى بن وثاب عن مسروق
أوتر رسول الله ﷺ من أوله وآخره وأوسطه وانتهى وتره إلى السحر
Muslim reported it, no. 137/745, from the hadith of Sufyan Thawri, and Bukhari, Witr, chapter on the times of Witr, no. 996, from the hadith of Masruq, through the same route, and it is in Kubra, no. 1390.
