I used to spend the night near the chamber of the Prophet ﷺ, and I would hear him, when he rose at night, say for a long while, "Glory be to Allah, Lord of the worlds." Then he would say for a long while, "Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him."
أخبرنا سويد بن نصر قال أنبأنا عبد الله عن معمر والأوزاعي عن يحيى بن أبي كثير عن أبي سلمة
كنت أبيت عند حجرة النبي ﷺ فكنت أسمعه إذا قام من الليل يقول سبحان الله رب العالمين الهوي ثم يقول سبحان الله وبحمده الهوي
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Ibn Majah recorded it in the chapter on supplication, in the section on what one supplicates when waking up at night, hadith 3879, from the hadith of Yahya bin Abu Kathir, in an abridged form. It also appears in Al-Kubra, hadith 1318. Its original form is in Sahih Muslim, in the book of prayer, in the chapter on the merit of sujud and encouragement toward it, hadith 226/489, from the hadith of Uzai, with wording different from this, and this is a fragment of it. The hadith has other fragments recorded by Abu Dawud, hadith 1320, and Tirmidhi, hadith 3416, and others. Its fragment has already appeared at hadith 1139.
