Umar bin Khattab found a garment of thick brocade in the market, so he took it and brought it to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.He said, "Messenger of Allah, buy this and adorn yourself with it for the Eid and for receiving delegations."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "This is the clothing of one who has no share in the Hereafter," or he said, "Only one who has no share in the Hereafter wears this."Umar remained as long as Allah willed, then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him a robe of silk brocade. Umar took it and came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, you said that this is the clothing of one who has no share in the Hereafter, then you sent this one to me?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Sell it and use its price to meet your needs."
