The sun was eclipsed during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He ordered that the call "The prayer is to be performed in congregation" be announced. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then led the people in two bowings and one prostration, after which he stood and performed two more bowings and one prostration.Ayesha said, "I had never made a bowing or a prostration longer than that."Muhammad bin Humayr narrated it differently.
أخبرني محمود بن خالد عن مروان قال حدثني معاوية بن سلام قال حدثنا يحيى بن أبي كثير عن أبي سلمة بن عبد الرحمن
خسفت الشمس على عهد رسول الله ﷺ فأمر فنودي الصلاة جامعة فصلى رسول الله ﷺ بالناس ركعتين وسجدة ثم قام فصلى ركعتين وسجدة قالت عائشة ما ركعت ركوعا قط ولا سجدت سجودا قط كان أطول منه خالفه محمد بن حمير
Bukhari transmitted it, Eclipses, chapter, "Calling out 'the prayer is gathering' during an eclipse," Hadith 1045, in abridged form, and Muslim, Eclipses, chapter, "Mention of calling out for the eclipse prayer, 'the prayer is gathering,'" Hadith 910, from the hadith of Muawiya bin Salam, through this route, and it is in Al-Kubra, Hadith 1864.
