The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever performs the major ritual bath on Friday like the bath for major impurity, then proceeds early to the mosque, it is as though he offered a camel as sacrifice. Whoever goes in the second hour, it is as though he offered a cow. Whoever goes in the third hour, it is as though he offered a ram. Whoever goes in the fourth hour, it is as though he offered a chicken. Whoever goes in the fifth hour, it is as though he offered an egg. And when the imam comes out, the angels attend, listening to the remembrance."
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Friday Prayer, chapter on perfume and the tooth-stick on Friday, hadith no. 850, from Qutayba, and Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Friday Prayer, chapter on the merit of Friday, hadith no. 881, from the hadith of Malik with the same wording. It is also found in Muwatta (narrated by Yahya), 1/101, and in Kubra, hadith no. 1696.
