The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to perform ablution for every prayer. On the day of the Conquest, however, he prayed all the prayers with a single ablution.Umar said to him, "You have done something you did not used to do."He replied, "I did it deliberately, Umar."
أخبرنا عبيد الله بن سعيد قال حدثنا يحيى عن سفيان قال حدثنا علقمة بن مرثد
كان رسول الله ﷺ يتوضأ لكل صلاة فلما كان يوم الفتح صلى الصلوات بوضوء واحد فقال له عمر فعلت شيئا لم تكن تفعله قال عمدا فعلته يا عمر
Muslim narrated it, in the Book of Purification, the chapter on the permissibility of performing all prayers with a single wudu, hadith 277, from the hadith of Qattan, with the same wording. It is also in Kubra, hadith 134. Yahya.
