The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray, between finishing the evening prayer and the dawn, eleven units of prayer. He would conclude with a single unit as witr, and he would prostrate for as long as it would take one of you to recite fifty verses before raising his head. The narrators differ slightly from one another in their accounts. The hadith is given here in abridged form.
أخبرنا سليمان بن داود بن حماد بن سعد عن ابن وهب قال أخبرني ابن أبي ذئب وعمرو بن الحارث ويونس بن يزيد أن ابن شهاب أخبرهم عن عروة
