I asked Safwan bin Assal about wiping over leather socks. He said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to command us, when we were travelers, to wipe over our leather socks and not to remove them for three days, regardless of relieving ourselves, urinating, or sleeping, except in the case of major ritual impurity."
