The Messenger of Allah ﷺ indicated regarding wiping over the leather socks that there is no harm in it.
أخبرنا قتيبة قال حدثنا إسمعيل وهو ابن جعفر عن موسى بن عقبة عن أبي النضر عن أبي سلمة
