The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would glance to his right and left during his prayer without turning his neck to look behind his back.
[Its isnad is hasan] Tirmidhi transmitted it in the Book of Prayer, chapter on what is mentioned about turning around during prayer, from the hadith of Fadl bin Musa, with this chain, and he said, "Gharib." It is also in Kubra, hadith no. 1124. Hakim graded it sahih in his Mustadrak, 1/236–237, according to the criterion of Bukhari, and Dhahabi agreed with him.I say, this hadith is abrogated, as shown by the hadith of Ashath bin Abu Shatha, from Masruq, from Ayesha, as mentioned previously, hadith no. 1197.
