The Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Bilal entered the marketplaces. He went to relieve himself and then came out.Usama said, I asked Bilal what he had done.Bilal replied, "The Prophet ﷺ went to relieve himself, then performed ablution. He washed his face and his hands, wiped his head, and wiped over his leather socks, then he prayed."

دخل رسول الله ﷺ وبلال الأسواق فذهب لحاجته ثم خرج قال أسامة فسألت بلالا ما صنع فقال بلال ذهب النبي ﷺ لحاجته ثم توضأ فغسل وجهه ويديه ومسح برأسه ومسح على الخفين ثم صلى
[Its chain is sahih] Hakim narrated it: 1/151, from the hadith of Abdullah bin Nafi with this chain. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih, no. 185, as did Ibn Hibban (Mawarid), no. 175, and Hakim said it meets the standard of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), and Dhahabi agreed with him. It is also in al-Kubra, no. 127.
