I saw Ali perform ablution. He washed his hands three times, rinsed his mouth and nose three times, washed his face three times, washed each arm three times, wiped his head, and washed each foot three times. Then he said, "This is the ablution of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."
أخبرنا محمد بن آدم عن ابن أبي زائدة قال حدثني أبي وغيره عن أبي إسحق
رأيت عليا توضأ فغسل كفيه ثلاثا وتمضمض واستنشق ثلاثا وغسل وجهه ثلاثا وذراعيه ثلاثا ثلاثا ومسح برأسه وغسل رجليه ثلاثا ثلاثا ثم قال هذا وضوء رسول الله ﷺ
[Its chain is daif] Abu Dawud transmitted it, Purification, chapter on the description of the Prophet's ablution, no. 116, in abbreviated form, and Tirmidhi, Purification, chapter on what has been said about the Prophet's ﷺ ablution, how it was, no. 48, from the hadith of Abu Ishaq with this chain, and Tirmidhi said, hasan sahih. It is also found in al-Kubra, no. 162. See also the following hadith, no. 136. Abu Ishaq is a mudallis and he narrated it using "an" (indicating an undisclosed link), as mentioned previously, no. 96.
