Abdullah bin Tawus prayed beside me at Mina in the Khayf mosque. Whenever he completed the first prostration and raised his head from it, he would raise his hands level with his face. I found this strange, so I said to Wahib bin Khalid, "This man is doing something I have never seen anyone else do."Wahib said to him, "You are doing something we have never seen anyone do."Abdullah bin Tawus replied, "I saw my father do it, and my father said, 'I saw Ibn Abbas do it,' and Abdullah bin Abbas said, 'I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do it.'"
[Its chain of transmission is daif]. Abu Dawud narrated it, Prayer, chapter on opening the prayer, no. 740, from the hadith of Nadr bin Kathir. It is also in Al-Kubra, no. 732. Nadr bin Kathir is daif, most scholars have declared him daif. Refer to Tahdhib and other sources.
