He was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey when water was brought to him. He poured water from the vessel onto his hands and washed them once, then washed his face and forearms once each, and washed both his feet with his right hand.
أخبرنا محمد بن بشار قال حدثنا محمد قال حدثنا شعبة قال أخبرني أبو جعفر المدني قال سمعت ابن عثمان بن حنيف يعني عمارة قال
أنه كان مع رسول الله ﷺ في سفر فأتي بماء فقال على يديه من الإناء فغسلهما مرة وغسل وجهه وذراعيه مرة مرة وغسل رجليه بيمينه كلتيهما
[Its chain is sahih] Ahmad narrated it, 5/368, from Muhammad bin Jafar with the same chain, and it is found in Kubra, no. 115. Abu Jafar is Khatmi. See also no. 16 of this book.
