The hands prostrate just as the face prostrates. So when one of you places his face down, let him place his hands down, and when he raises it, let him raise them.
[Its chain of transmission is sahih] Abu Dawud narrated it in the Book of Prayer, Chapter on the Limbs of Sujud, no. 892, from the hadith of Ismail bin Ulaya, through this route, and it is also in Kubra, no. 679. Hakim graded it sahih according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs (1/226, 227), and Dhahabi agreed with him. It also has another sahih chain, transmitted as a mawquf report, in Muwatta.
