When Marwan appointed Abu Hurayra as his deputy over Medina, Abu Hurayra would say the takbir whenever he stood for the obligatory prayer. He would then say the takbir when bowing, and when he raised his head from the bowing position he would say, "Allah hears whoever praises Him. Our Lord, to You belongs all praise." He would then say the takbir as he went down into prostration, and again when he rose from the sitting after the second rakat following the tashahhud. He continued in this manner until he completed his prayer.When he finished and gave the salam, he turned to the people in the mosque and said, "By the One in whose hand my soul is, my prayer resembles the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ more closely than any of yours."
أخبرنا سويد بن نصر قال أنبأنا عبد الله بن المبارك عن يونس عن الزهري
أن أبا هريرة حين استخلفه مروان على المدينة كان إذا قام إلى الصلاة المكتوبة كبر ثم يكبر حين يركع فإذا رفع رأسه من الركعة قال سمع الله لمن حمده ربنا ولك الحمد ثم يكبر حين يهوي ساجدا ثم يكبر حين يقوم من الثنتين بعد التشهد يفعل مثل ذلك حتى يقضي صلاته فإذا قضى صلاته وسلم أقبل على أهل المسجد فقال والذي نفسي بيده إني لأشبهكم صلاة برسول الله ﷺ
Reported by Muslim, Prayer, Chapter on establishing the takbir at every lowering and rising in prayer... to the end, hadith no. 30/392, from the hadith of Yunus bin Yazid Ayli, and by Bukhari with some variation, Adhan, Chapter, He lowers himself with the takbir when he prostrates, hadith no. 803, from the hadith of Zuhri, with the same wording, and it is in al-Kubra, hadith no. 1096.
