Umm Habiba bint Jahsh, the sister-in-law of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the wife of Abdul-Rahman bin Awf, suffered from prolonged irregular bleeding for seven years. She sought the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ guidance about it, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This is not menstrual bleeding but rather a flow from a vein. So perform the ritual bath and pray."Ayesha said, "She used to bathe in a tub in the room of her sister Zaynab bint Jahsh until the redness of the blood would rise to the surface of the water."Ibn Shihab said, "I related this to Abu Bakr bin Abdul-Rahman bin Harith bin Hisham, and he said, 'May Allah have mercy on Hind. If only she had heard this ruling. By Allah, she used to weep because she could not pray.'"
و حدثنا محمد بن سلمة المرادي حدثنا عبد الله بن وهب عن عمرو بن الحارث عن ابن شهاب عن عروة بن الزبير وعمرة بنت عبد الرحمن
أن أم حبيبة بنت جحش ختنة رسول الله ﷺ وتحت عبد الرحمن بن عوف استحيضت سبع سنين فاستفتت رسول الله ﷺ في ذلك فقال رسول الله ﷺ إن هذه ليست بالحيضة ولكن هذا عرق فاغتسلي وصلي قالت عائشة فكانت تغتسل في مركن في حجرة أختها زينب بنت جحش حتى تعلو حمرة الدم الماء قال ابن شهاب فحدثت بذلك أبا بكر بن عبد الرحمن بن الحارث بن هشام فقال يرحم الله هندا لو سمعت بهذه الفتيا والله إن كانت لتبكي لأنها كانت لا تصلي
