Regarding the verse "Those whom they invoke themselves seek the means of nearness to their Lord" [Isra 17:57], he said, "There was a group of humans who used to worship a group of jinn. The jinn embraced Islam, but the humans clung to worshipping them. So the verse was revealed, 'Those whom they invoke themselves seek the means of nearness to their Lord' [Isra 17:57]."

{أولئك الذين يدعون يبتغون إلى ربهم الوسيلة} قال كان نفر من الإنس يعبدون نفرا من الجن فأسلم النفر من الجن واستمسك الإنس بعبادتهم فنزلت {أولئك الذين يدعون يبتغون إلى ربهم الوسيلة}
