A man from among the Jews said, "If this verse had been revealed to us, the community of Jews, 'This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion' [Maidah 5:3], we would have taken the day on which it was revealed as a festival."Umar replied, "I know the day on which it was revealed, and the hour, and where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was when it was revealed. It was revealed on the evening of Jam, while we were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at Arafat."
