Nawas bin Saman reported,

One morning the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mentioned the Dajjal. He spoke of him in tones so low and then so high that we thought he was somewhere among the palm groves. When we returned to him later, he noticed this in us and asked, "What is the matter with you?"We said, "Messenger of Allah, you mentioned the Dajjal this morning, lowering and raising your voice until we thought he was among the palm groves."He said, "There are things other than the Dajjal that I fear more for you. If he comes out while I am among you, I will be the one to confront him on your behalf. But if he comes out when I am no longer with you, then each man must defend himself, and Allah will be my deputy over every Muslim. He is a young man with very curly hair and a defective eye. I can best liken him to Abd al-Uzza bin Qatan. Whoever among you reaches him, let him recite over him the opening verses of Surah al-Kahf. He will appear on a road between Sham and Iraq, and will spread corruption right and left. Servants of Allah, hold firm."We asked, "Messenger of Allah, how long will he remain on the earth?"He said, "Forty days. One day will be like a year, one day like a month, one day like a week, and the rest of his days will be like your ordinary days."We asked, "Messenger of Allah, on that day which is like a year, will the prayers of one day suffice us?"He said, "No. Estimate its measure."We asked, "Messenger of Allah, how swiftly will he move through the earth?"He said, "Like a rain cloud driven by the wind. He will come to a people and call them, and they will believe in him and respond to him. He will command the sky to rain and it will rain, and command the earth to bring forth produce and it will do so. Then their grazing animals will return to them in the evening, with humps taller than ever, udders fuller, and flanks more swollen. Then he will come to another people and call them, but they will reject his words. He will turn away from them, and they will be left in drought, with nothing of their wealth in their possession. He will pass by a ruin and say to it, 'Bring forth your treasures,' and its treasures will follow him like swarms of bees. Then he will summon a man brimming with youth and strike him with the sword, cutting him into two pieces with the distance between them like the throw of an arrow at a target. Then he will call him, and the man will come forward, his face beaming with laughter. While he is in that state, Allah will send the Messiah, son of Mary, who will descend at the white minaret east of Damascus, wearing two saffron-dyed garments, placing his palms on the wings of two angels. When he lowers his head, drops fall from it, and when he raises it, beads like pearls scatter from it. No disbeliever who catches the scent of his breath can survive, and his breath reaches as far as his sight reaches. He will pursue the Dajjal until he overtakes him at the gate of Ludd and kills him. Then Isa, son of Mary, will come to a people whom Allah has protected from the Dajjal. He will wipe their faces and tell them of their ranks in Paradise. While he is in that state, Allah will reveal to Isa, 'I have brought forth servants of Mine whom no one has the power to fight. So take My servants safely to the Mount.'Allah will send out Yajuj and Majuj, and they will swarm down from every height. Their forerunners will pass by the Lake of Tiberias and drink everything in it, and when their last ones pass by, they will say, 'There once was water here.' The Prophet of Allah Isa and his companions will be besieged until the head of an ox will be more valuable to one of them than a hundred Dinar is to one of you today. Then the Prophet of Allah Isa and his companions will turn to Allah in supplication, and Allah will send upon them a worm in their necks, and by morning they will all lie dead as though a single soul had perished. Then the Prophet of Allah Isa and his companions will descend to the earth, and they will not find a span of ground that is not filled with their stench and decay. So the Prophet of Allah Isa and his companions will turn to Allah in supplication, and Allah will send birds with necks like those of Bactrian camels, which will carry the corpses away and cast them wherever Allah wills. Then Allah will send rain that no house of clay or hide can keep out, and it will wash the earth until it is left like a polished mirror. Then it will be said to the earth, 'Bring forth your fruit and restore your blessing.' On that day a group will eat from a single pomegranate and find shade beneath its rind. Milk will be so blessed that a single milking she-camel will suffice a large group of people, a single milking cow will suffice a tribe, and a single milking ewe will suffice a clan. While they are in that state, Allah will send a pleasant wind that will take them beneath their armpits and seize the soul of every believer and every Muslim. The worst of people will remain, coupling openly like donkeys, and upon them the Hour will come."
