Nafi used to say regarding Ibn Sayyad, Ibn Umar said, "I met him twice."He said, "I met him and asked some of them, 'Do you all say that he is the one?'"They said, "No, by Allah."I said, "You have lied to me. By Allah, some of you informed me that he would not die until he became the wealthiest of you and had the most children. So that is how he is, they claim, today."He said, "We talked, then I left him. Then I met him another time, and his eye had become swollen and protruding."I said, "When did your eye become as I see it?"He said, "I do not know."I said, "You do not know, when it is in your head?"He said, "If Allah wills, He created it in this staff of yours."Then he snorted with the loudest snorting of a donkey I had ever heard.He said, "Some of my companions claimed that I struck him with a staff I had with me until it broke, but as for me, by Allah, I was not aware of it."He said, "Then I came and entered upon Umm Muiminin and told her about it."She said, "What do you want with him? Do you not know that he has said that the first thing that will rouse him against people is an anger that will anger him?"

كان نافع يقول ابن صياد قال قال ابن عمر لقيته مرتين قال فلقيته فقلت لبعضهم هل تحدثون أنه هو قال لا والله قال قلت كذبتني والله لقد أخبرني بعضكم أنه لن يموت حتى يكون أكثركم مالا وولدا فكذلك هو زعموا اليوم قال فتحدثنا ثم فارقته قال فلقيته لقية أخرى وقد نفرت عينه قال فقلت متى فعلت عينك ما أرى قال لا أدري قال قلت لا تدري وهي في رأسك قال إن شاء الله خلقها في عصاك هذه قال فنخر كأشد نخير حمار سمعت قال فزعم بعض أصحابي أني ضربته بعصا كانت معي حتى تكسرت وأما أنا فوالله ما شعرت قال وجاء حتى دخل على أم المؤمنين فحدثها فقالت ما تريد إليه ألم تعلم أنه قد قال إن أول ما يبعثه على الناس غضب يغضبه
