We set out as pilgrims, either for Hajj or Umrah, and Ibn Sayyad was with us. We stopped at a place to rest, and the people scattered, leaving him and me alone. I felt an intense unease at being with him because of what was said about him.He brought his belongings and placed them with mine. I said, "The heat is severe. Why don't you put your things under that tree?" So he did.Then a flock of sheep came into view for us, so he went off and brought back a large bowl of milk. He said, "Drink, Abu Saeed."I replied, "The heat is severe and the milk is hot." But the truth was that I simply disliked drinking from his hand, or taking anything from his hand.He said, "Abu Saeed, I have been on the verge of taking a rope, tying it to a tree, and hanging myself because of what people say about me. Abu Saeed, whoever else may be unaware of the hadith of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, it cannot be hidden from you Ansar. Are you not among the most knowledgeable of people regarding the hadith of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not say that he is a disbeliever, while I am a Muslim? Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not say that he is barren, with no children born to him, while I have left my child back in Medina? Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ not say that he will not enter Medina or Mecca, while I have just come from Medina and am heading to Mecca?"Abu Saeed Khudri said, "He nearly convinced me to excuse him. Then he said, 'But by Allah, I know him, I know where he was born, and I know where he is right now.'"I said to him, "May ruin attend you for the rest of the day."
حدثنا محمد بن المثنى حدثنا سالم بن نوح أخبرني الجريري عن أبي نضرة
خرجنا حجاجا أو عمارا ومعنا ابن صائد قال فنزلنا منزلا فتفرق الناس وبقيت أنا وهو فاستوحشت منه وحشة شديدة مما يقال عليه قال وجاء بمتاعه فوضعه مع متاعي فقلت إن الحر شديد فلو وضعته تحت تلك الشجرة قال ففعل قال فرفعت لنا غنم فانطلق فجاء بعس فقال اشرب أبا سعيد فقلت إن الحر شديد واللبن حار ما بي إلا أني أكره أن أشرب عن يده أو قال آخذ عن يده فقال أبا سعيد لقد هممت أن آخذ حبلا فأعلقه بشجرة ثم أختنق مما يقول لي الناس يا أبا سعيد من خفي عليه حديث رسول الله ﷺ ما خفي عليكم معشر الأنصار ألست من أعلم الناس بحديث رسول الله ﷺ أليس قد قال رسول الله ﷺ هو كافر وأنا مسلم أوليس قد قال رسول الله ﷺ هو عقيم لا يولد له وقد تركت ولدي بالمدينة أوليس قد قال رسول الله ﷺ لا يدخل المدينة ولا مكة وقد أقبلت من المدينة وأنا أريد مكة قال أبو سعيد الخدري حتى كدت أن أعذره ثم قال أما والله إني لأعرفه وأعرف مولده وأين هو الآن قال قلت له تبا لك سائر اليوم
