Ibn Sayyad said to me, and I felt some sympathy toward him, "I can excuse other people, but what is the matter with you, companions of Muhammad? Did the Prophet of Allah ﷺ not say that he is a Jew? Yet I have embraced Islam. He said that he would have no children, yet I have had children. He said that Allah had forbidden Mecca to him, yet I have performed the pilgrimage."He kept on speaking like this until he nearly persuaded me with what he was saying. Then he said to him, "By Allah, I now know where he is, and I know his father and mother."Someone said to him, "Would it please you to be that man?"He replied, "If it were offered to me, I would not refuse it."
