We were sitting with Jabir bin Abdullah when he said, "The people of Iraq will soon find that not a single measure of grain nor a single dirham is brought in to them."We asked, "Why would that be?"He answered, "Because of the Persians. They will withhold it." Then he said, "And the people of Syria will soon find that not a single dinar nor a single measure of grain is brought in to them."We asked, "Why would that be?"He answered, "Because of the Byzantines." Then he fell silent for a while, and afterward said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'At the end of my nation there will be a caliph who will scoop out wealth by the handful, without counting it.'"The narrator said, "I asked Abu Nadra and Abu Ala, 'Do you think that is Umar bin Abdul-Aziz?'"They both said, "No."
