A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, I dallied with a woman on the outskirts of Madinah, and I took from her what fell short of intercourse. Here I am, so judge me as you wish."Umar said to him, "Allah had concealed your sin. You should have concealed it yourself."The Prophet ﷺ gave him no reply, so the man got up and left. The Prophet ﷺ then sent a man after him to call him back, and he recited to him this verse, "And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds drive away bad deeds. That is a reminder for those who remember." [Hud 11:114]A man among the people asked, "Prophet of Allah, is this for him alone?"He replied, "No, it is for all people."
حدثنا يحيى بن يحيى وقتيبة بن سعيد وأبو بكر بن أبي شيبة واللفظ ليحيى قال يحيى أخبرنا و قال الآخران حدثنا أبو الأحوص عن سماك عن إبراهيم عن علقمة والأسود
جاء رجل إلى النبي ﷺ فقال يا رسول الله إني عالجت امرأة في أقصى المدينة وإني أصبت منها ما دون أن أمسها فأنا هذا فاقض في ما شئت فقال له عمر لقد سترك الله لو سترت نفسك قال فلم يرد النبي ﷺ شيئا فقام الرجل فانطلق فأتبعه النبي ﷺ رجلا دعاه وتلا عليه هذه الآية {أقم الصلاة طرفي النهار وزلفا من الليل إن الحسنات يذهبن السيئات ذلك ذكرى للذاكرين} فقال رجل من القوم يا نبي الله هذا له خاصة قال بل للناس كافة
Muslim narrated the hadith of Abu Ahwas, from Simak, from Ibrahim, from Alqama and Aswad, from Abdullah, that a man said, "I fondled a woman and did something short of intercourse with her," so this was revealed, "And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night" [Hud 11:114], the hadith. He also narrated it from Abu Musa, from Abu Numan Hakam bin Abdullah, from Shuba, from Simak, from Ibrahim, from Aswad, from Abdullah.He said, Israil narrated it from Simak in the same way as Abu Ahwas. It has also been said that Abu Awana narrated it likewise. Khalid Subayi reported it from him, from Simak, from Ibrahim, from Alqama and Aswad, without doubt. Asbat bin Nasr reported it from Simak, from Ibrahim, from Aswad alone. Abu Qatan and Abu Zayd Harawi said, from Shuba, from Simak, from Ibrahim, from his maternal uncle, from Abdullah, without naming this maternal uncle. Sharik said, from Simak, from Ibrahim, from Alqama alone, from Abdullah. Thawri said, from Simak, from Ibrahim, from Abdullah bin Yazid Sani, from Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid, from Abdullah his maternal uncle, and Fadl Saybani. Firyabi said, from Thawri, from Amash and Simak, from Ibrahim, from Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid Sani.Simak used to be inconsistent in this narration, and Allah knows best what is correct.
