From the Prophet ﷺ. Also, Muhammad bin Ala al-Hamdani narrated to us, and the wording is his. Abu Usama narrated to us from Burayd, from Abu Burda, from Abu Musa, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "The likeness of a good companion and a bad companion is like that of a musk-bearer and a blacksmith working his bellows. As for the musk-bearer, he will either give you some, or you will buy some from him, or at the very least you will catch a pleasant scent from him. As for the blacksmith working his bellows, he will either burn your clothes, or you will catch a foul smell from him."

عن النبي ﷺ ح و حدثنا محمد بن العلاء الهمداني واللفظ له حدثنا أبو أسامة عن بريد عن أبي بردة عن أبي موسى عن النبي ﷺ قال إنما مثل الجليس الصالح والجليس السوء كحامل المسك ونافخ الكير فحامل المسك إما أن يحذيك وإما أن تبتاع منه وإما أن تجد منه ريحا طيبة ونافخ الكير إما أن يحرق ثيابك وإما أن تجد ريحا خبيثة
